You should copy and save this information somewhere if you care about your internal ID (which you should) and want to transfer it to another computer, Web browser or whatever. For example, you might want to do this to prove that you are the original poster of some old topic that gets bumped/replied to long after it has been forgotten. Not to mention your history, watched topics, "last visit" flags, etc. are, obviously, tied to your ID. The unique ID is never shown in public in any way.

Due to security concerns, we cannot help you if you later want to restore your ID but haven't backed up your ID and password properly. Don't be stupid!

You may also download your ID card as a file that you can put on a memory stick, e-mail to yourself, store on a floppy disk in a safe or whatever you want.
