Topic: Imagefap "your IP has been logged"
Anonymous A started this discussion topic 11 months (2008-08-15 11:07:40 UTC) ago (#10,168):
I just clicked a fucking TinyURL link which directed me to a page on Imagefap saying I have attempted to download child porn… and that my IP address has been logged and they co-operate with law enforcement?! Should I worry?
Internal advertisement: Do you want your own message (commercial or not) right here? You can!

I don't know. It might just be a scare tactic. If you're not a serious purveyer or user of child porn, I don't think they'd bother with you. Besides, they have your IP logged for this one attempt. That's not a lot of evidence worth prosecuting. Police have more worthwhile things to do. My suggesting, stay away from any sites you might think the police are keeping tabs on for a while. If you keep trying to get this stuff, you'll get the cops' attention.

No.. I'm not looking for any of that. Some asshole just send me a TinyURL link to the page. Imagefap is retarded for having such an exploitable service.

If you are dumb enough to worry about this, you don't deserve to be using a computer. Much less the Internet…

This has been going round for ages
I clicked on it about a month ago and my door has yet to be broken down by the police, so I wouldn't lose sleep over it if I were you.

An admin or somebody at the site said it was just there to deter people who are looking for that kind of stuff. You're fine.

First, you need to buy a dog.
Also, get curtains for all of your windows, and install caller ID on your phone.
And, if you see a yellow van, FUCKING RUN.

I thought that this would not be a bad thing- I thought that it is just a scare tactic.
It's not true. This is very serious.
Anonymous J replied with this 11 months (2008-08-18 08:44:04 UTC) ago, 5 hours later, 3 days after the original post (#51,686):
@previousStop scaremongering. Everyone and their brother already knows about this retarded trick. It's a scare tactic by imagefap to deter users from uploading and trading cp. The term "lolita" is used in a ton of
legal porn anyways. There are no legal grounds on which to charge someone with a crime just for searching for the term.

Yea that thing scared me too, but if it is happening to all these people then I just hope that it is just a scare tactic, and let me tell you it works hella good. Theres power in numbers too, u could just be a needle in a hay stack with that thing.

I read about this recently, imagefap did it as a joke, you search for imagefap/kiddyporn.jpg, they log your ip address. Read their blog, it may say what's going on. Actually they do log your ip address, most websites these days are legally required to do so.
Anonymous R joined in and replied with this 6 months (2009-01-14 01:38:11 UTC) ago, 2 hours later, 5 months after the original post (#98,980):
Nope, just a scare tactic. If they really did anything, there wouldn't be any chans anymore.

OMG! PARANOID! Ok yeah, I got tricked into searching for "lolita" and I got the same thing. I'm sure they've logged about 80 billion IPs by now… The police want to catch actual fucking pedophiles and purveyors of unspeakably inappropriate porn. Those of us who did it once should be fine. Plus, wouldn't the police would look rather silly busting everyone who TRIED to look for a picture. It's more or less a preventive measure to keep that stuff from actually being viewed. You'll notice that you don't actually see any images. No harm no foul. Nothing illegal done…
