Now this is something I have been wondering. Has any of the smaller nations that send 2 or 3 athletes ever won a medal? I always wanted to see a small nation win something in an event like Swimmer and then have everyone be in shocked while they hear their national anthem being played. Has this ever happened within the complete history of the Olympic Games?

During the games currently running, every nation has at least won one medal already (some have one gold medal and nothing else).

@52,327

So basically we in America do not make a big deal about it, because they are not US?

I am dead serious, I wish there was an Olympics channel for us here in the US. -.-

the US has some of the worst olympic coverage in the world. Unpopular sports constantly interrupted by commercials. It's generally because the sports you like, the rest of the world doesn't like. Togo and Mongolia both won medals, togo was canoeing i think. Pretty much every part of the world is good at a sport. For instance the south americans have football/beach volleyball, easten europe has field events like the hammer, africa of course has sprinting and distance running, the middle east is historically good at wrestling and weight lifting.
