I was nervous at first at the parallel parking even though I practiced. I called the license branch today and found out that if I cant do it right, its just points off. This whole time I was thinking that If I couldn't do it right, then it would be a fail. So I don't have any worries really. I just hope my instructor isn't a fucking nazi and takes off for the most fail shit stupid reasons. Anyway, how was your road test and were you nervous? Details please.

Here's a story of the first time I took the test:
We were doing downhill parking. I shifted into neutral, let the car roll into place, shifted into park, and set the parking brake. I took the parking brake off, shifted back into drive and we went on. 2 or 3 minutes later, he told me, "You know you're supposed to ask me if I want you to turn the car off…". So I said, "Oh, really? Did you want me to?" To which he replied, "No, I would've told you not to, but you should've asked." And 20 or 30 seconds later he casually added, "You failed because of that by the way."
Luckily I didn't get the same guy the second time, but I asked anyway. Predictably, the second guy said "no".

@53,002So you failed the driving test because of a non-driving related incident?

@53,038Apparently so. I think it had something to do with the idea that by not asking him I was being "reckless" or whatnot… actually I don't really understand it.

What state did you test at?

Oh jeez my drive test was a waste of time as 80% of it was left turns. I had to change lanes once, pull out of an intersection make a RIGHT (omg!) turn once or twice, and deal with a red light or two. That was about it. Oh yeah and one parallel park but that's really not hard.

In my state we don't even have to take the driving test if we completed Driver's Education in high school.

Well I just got back from the license branch and I passed! My instructor was a laid back older black woman. When I parallel parked, it was just behind a blue truck. There wasn't even a car behind it.
Win.

@53,573Great job, now go forth and enjoy your new found freedom from the oppressor known as your parents. Just don't drink and drive, at your age you'll probably be a reckless driver even while sober and you wouldn't wanna make things worse now would you?
