Topic: I'm actually surprised that people dare to buy this Linux mini PC thing…

Apparently, "normal" people have started buying non-Windows laptops/computers. This makes me feel odd inside. Won't these people have countless problems with compatibility when they buy a new Web camera and want to video chat on "MSN" or when they want to use one of those MSIE-only Web sites? Just to mention a few obvious issues…

They'll probably just endlessly bug their "computer expert" friends for help. If people can't change the ink in their printer without 'expert' assistance I'm not sure how they'll ever manage to run apt-get or something.

Maybe they'll installed a "not-legal" copy of windows?

Do they even make MSIE-only websites? Occasionally I'll have minor layout issues in Firefox, but I've never found a page I simply couldn't browse.

TBH, it's been a long time since I've seen a page that has serious issues with firefox. Besides windows update, but that's a non-issue for obvious reasons.

Hardware support on linux is actually becoming pretty good, the vast majority of webcams are now supported iirc.

For fuck's sake try visiting www.justfuckinggoogleit.com and you'll quickly discover most of those netbooks come with a flipping webcam BUILT IN to the thing! I know you can troll better than this Billy G… Put a little effort into it for pete's sake!

@54,788

So fucking what if it comes with a Web camera built in if it cannot be used to video chat with sound with ordinary people? (And no, referring to that site doesn't make you "cool"…)

Durr…. because you can use the webcam and included skype to do just that? Would you like to buy a clue or do you usually prefer to ingest them rectally via foot insertion?

Are you fucking stupid? Skype ≠ Windows Live Messenger.

Because everyone knows Windows Live Messenger is the ONLY app that allows you to IM and video chat, right?

Durr, Durr, Durrrrrr….learn to look outside the Microsoft lockin, why don'tcha? There are all kinds of options you can use for IM and if video chat is the only app that you find worth having then give aMSN a look, IIRC it has video chat capabilities and is of course compatible with the MSN networks, like most open source IM apps…

Normal people don't fucking use the open source crap. That's the whole point.

Stop trolling.
