Topic: Why don't banks and governments work together?

Like… if I don't wanna pay some fine or something, and refuse, they could just make the bank transfer the sum without my permission from my bank account. The government could make such a law and the banks would have to comply. And I could do nothing about it.

Yes, it's evil, but so are many other laws. I don't want this to happen — I just wonder why it's not done. At least it's not done in my country (AFAIK). "They" (the government and the authorities) seem to have no insight into the banks' databases.

Of course this will never happen, but it might be interesting for the banks. Having a fine, lowers the amount of money you have on your account. So, the bank has to pay less interest, or you have to pay more interest when you're below zero. Either way; win/win situation for the bank.

Because citizens can switch banks and vote for someone else.

main reason is that your typical bank is merely a retail bank, the power is in the reserve bank which funnily enough is privately owned. the reason the government won't work with the bank is because the government has to borrow money just like you and i.

if you search more on privatisation of the federal reserve and any reserve bank for that matter, you'll find you answer.

hint, search for a video titled "Money As Debt" its on google video.
