I run FrostWire with Peer Guardian 2. I download the CP and watch a preview. If it's nothing good, I simply cancel the download. If it downloads all the way, I watch it once, then stop sharing the file and delete it. Then I clear my recycle bin. Is this safe? I have no CP files anywhere on my computer. I watch videos/pictures once then immediately delete them and I don't share. Shall I continue this method or is there more I can do?

If you actually get caught, and they bother coming to your house, you're probably fucked. However, this is such a slim risk that you might as well worry about getting stabbed when you are walking around on the streets. Or at least that's how I look at it.

If you're simply clearing from your recycle bin then the files can easily be recovered. The only real way to keep someone from recovering your files if your drive is confiscated is to keep them completely out of your system with encryption. TrueCrypt works wonders for this, tho I've also heard that PGP is good.

Definitely use eraser to dispose of the files after use, instead of delete.
Also, it's probably be a good idea to clear all cache, temp files, etc and then use eraser to erase free disk space occasionally. Whole disk encryption and hidden volumes with truecrypt wouldn't be such a bad idea either. Just a few ideas from a security paranoid.

Get a USB pen and encrypt it with TrueCrypt and put all your stuff on there.
And deleting the stuff in the recycle bin is not good, they can easily recreate it. So be sure to use DBban Harddrive Deleter or something.

CCleaner (google it) gets rid of the crap, run it daily, then reformat after doing a secure deletion using a deep cleaning program maybe once a month. You should be fine, and any uncorrupt CP files they do find wont be enough to incriminate you.

PGP is the best way to keep something safe, NO ONE will ever crack it without your pass-phrase, and there's actually proof of that, and they cant make you give up your pass.
Also, i dont watch CP but if you REALLY dont want to get caught, you should get a stealth-browsing oriented linux Live cd and use that instead of your normal OS, that way there wont be anything to find (except your PGP protected files). All you have to do is find and .iso, burn it and reboot, it doesnt install anything.

Even if you're innocent, law enforcement will steal your computer for months so you will need your hard drive backed up and then burried somewhere they can't find it or you're completely screwed as all the data you kept on your computer is lost for months. Then even if your hard drive is backed up, you have to shell out a lot of money for a new computer to recover the data from.
So the better idea is to make them not investigate you in the first place. So what attracts the van?

From a security point of view, download to a external device and use CClean (find it on filehippo). It is unlikely you will be caught (I doubt you will get chased for looking, it's when you start going crazy they come after you).
For an external device I suggest you avoid USB sticks, instead use a small flash drive which can easily be destroyed. Also make sure you encrypt everything.
