Topic: Why does the black butler in "Fresh Prince" call Will Smith "Master William"?

Isn't this extremely degrading to the butler? Might as well say "yessa, massa"… Even if the whole family happens to be black.

No, it isn't. "Master" is a title given to a young man in a household.

In fact, I can distinctly recall a few times when Alfred refers to Bruce as "Master" a few times in Batman. It's just an honorary title.
