Topic: Why do I wish for my childhood back?

Anonymous 9c40f338e8cf0cbb3aa6b9fad5fe4fb7 started this discussion 3 months (2008-09-04 03:43:03 UTC) ago:

Now sometimes I wish to go back to my elementary days and perhaps even do things differently then I did before. However out of all my school days, I think elementary school was my best times where it was fun with all of the drama. If I had an option to do it again, I would have decided to do it with out my mother coming to my rescue all of the damn time. >.<

Sometimes I feel as if I am still stuck in my childhood due to the way I act sometimes. Not to mention the fact I still watch childish shows and babyish shows even, for example Blue's Clues. I also feel as if I completely missed my teenhood because of my mother always babying me and coming to my rescue. I think this might be one reason I never got an interest in girls until the time I wanted a girlfriend. Which is now when I am 18 years of age. Perhaps if is my lack of interest in having sex other than having kids.

I sometimes wonder what girl would take me, a guy that still acts like a child one minute and then a normal adult the next. Also is it possible that one of the reasons I envy women is because girls could act childish and everyone thinks it's either cute or hott? It's like I want to just remain a baby/child, but at the same time I want to grow up and get married. I feel so confused that I sometimes just want to cry about my problems because I have no idea on how to solve this. Oh how a girlfriend I could talk to sounds good right now.

Why do I feel this way anons? :(

STAND UP!

There is only the NOW. No past, no future.

You are here NOW. Leave the past [ memories ].

Yes, your memories are "part" of you.

Leave them behind.

Look at it this way. If the CHAINS of memories are holding you back, CUT THEM OFF!

YOU are in control. YOU are the boss of your memories. YOU are CEO of your mind.

TAKE CONTROL OF YOURSELF!

IF you give other people/ideas/things/[noun]/etc power over your creation as you, it is YOUR fault.

Take your power back.

YOU must make that choice.

YOU are responsible for YOU.

I'm not saying this is easy.

But it does start with a choice. ONE choice. The only choice that matters.

I CHOOSE TO BE FREE!

If you want slavery, that is also your choice.

Make up your damn mind.

He means slavery of the mind. He is also being dramatic. You say you missed your teen years, but you are still a teen. If you live in America, you have until you are 21 before your "teen" years are over (the way things seem to work these days at least). It sounds like you are Christian, or at least hold Christian values. However the type of girl you describe is, as I have observed, going to be rather liberal. If you are in college, I would suggest living on campus to experience what you feel you have missed. If you are not in college, I would suggest you start taking a few classes at a liberal (not liberal arts) college and you'll probably run into the type of girl you are seeking. Alternatively, you can join some type of club. Either way, you will come in contact with the playful women that interest you, but your lack of desire for sex will not likely mesh well with these girls.

As for your limbo between childhood and adulthood, don't worry about it. It doesn't seem like your childhood was bad, just sheltered. As a result, you have an idealized view of adulthood it seems. Just go with the flow, your flow, and cheer up. Nobody in the real world cares what cartoons you watch so long as you don't take them too seriously.

Well I'm an atheist now, since my belief in God has fated. However my mother is (was) a Catholic, so something tells me that this had a great impact on me. Tomorrow I start my senior year of High School, however it's a god damn online school with Elluminate classrooms. I was for this for two years of high school then coming back to my old school for my final year. However my mother was being a bitch and didn't tell me when my old school started. Now it's too fucking late.

So this is a fancy way of saying you are home-schooled. [Laughing] Oh man, that's rich [/Laughing]. If you are not finished high school, there is no way to say that you have missed your teen years. If you're 18 now, you are legally an adult and thus your mother has no jurisdicition over you. Combine this with the fact that you are home-schooled and thus are likely to have a lot of time on your hands, or at least have a very flexible schedule, and you can still make the most of your time. Just show up at the local high school join a club or start hanging out with students there. You should be able to ask the faculty for special permission to take part in school events. Make sure you stay out late and hang out at places where other high school and college students go. If you can grab a part time job to pocket some cash on top of all this, the world will be yours for the taking. Go watch the gambling movie "21" for inspiration. Just keep up with your school work and you'll have nothing to worry about. By the way, do you live in a small, medium, or large town?

This is really my first homeschool, even though it's more online and not in the home. My other two schools had a similar work program at home, however I did have to go to class. Basically I go to class, and then come home to do certain classes at home. My third school was similar, however it was kindergarten and we did work at home as well as going to school.

As for my hometown, I discovered that my hometown has a Wikipedia page on it.

My old school, which I have been at for 1st-9th grade, is in a neighboring town called, "Apple Valley."

I just added that as a way to express that I found this funny insulting you.

Anyway, that is a decent sized town. When I compared your education to home schooling, I meant that it has the affect of limiting the social action you have during the years when it is most important. While not a bad thing itself, it does tend to make things difficult when you get out into the world. But don't worry, you seem to live in a place where you wouldn't be totally isolated from outher people your age. In truth, it seems like the only thing you have missed is the stage of growing up where you rebel against authority and push the limits of cards you were dealt in life. Just get out and meet some people, make offline friends and even a few enemies. You've got nothing to worry about if you just come out of your box a little.

Which is sometimes why I miss my old school. I was never really popular in school, and I am unsure if I had a few enemies. I guess if someone keeps saying, "Imma gonna kill you one day." That classifies as an enemy. Most of the time I had a couple of friends I socialized with, including his friends in class. So I was never really popular with a crowd and many thought I was plain ugly.

Just go to college and make sure you live on campus, you'll get back most of what you missed. There really isn't much to say, you're making a big deal out of nothing because you think you missed some grand experience, but you really didn't. Real life isn't like the teen movies, it's not nearly as fun as they make it seem.

I realize that. Also the only college I have out here is a community college. Should I look for out of state universities? Community College do not have dormitories.

@57,290

Out of state is a good idea, but more expensive. But even at community college you can get the same experience if you join a couple of clubs. The main idea is to end up spending a lot of time around different people with varied personalities. Living on campus is good for getting away from your family and the life you've none up until now, but if you fill up your schedule and spend a lot of time away from your home then that's just as good. When it comes to girls, it's easier to just worry about being friends with them. At your age, girls are actually more likely to approach you if you just make youself seem cooler than anyone else in just one area. If you're just concerned about being friends it will be easier to figure out what you want in a girlfriend. Also, make sure you spend time doing things that could get you in trouble if you got caught, but never get caught… it builds character. Underage drinking is the popular thing to do nowadays, but just being generally stupid once in a while will teach you to laugh at yourself and give you a healthy disrespect of authority.

Some of that is still hard for me, because for one. I am not athletic at all and I hardly find any interest in sports. I guess I am too much of a "moralfag" to get think about underage drinking or anything like that. Even though I do get pissed off and take my rage out on my mother. I guess it is best to have girls come to me, because I could even get up enough courages to tell a girl I liked how I feel.

Well, a club could include something like a science club or arts and crafts. Even if they don't interest you, just show up for the people and socializing. You should aslo be able to find something for noob athletes, even just weight lifting (that will help you with all other sports as well as with girls). Doing stupid things doesn't have to include drinking; you can mix random chemicals in the science lab or pull harmless pranks. Throwing toilet paper on buildings and mixing laundry detergent with pools or fountains is common. Once you start hanging out with peers, they can recommend activities you can do as a group for a little fun.

Are there clubs for writing, I like telling and making up my own stories. Is there a club for that? I am thinking about getting my degree in game design, do they have clubs for designing or even cartooning? Well here is a list of things I am planning on doing just to make things easier.

Degree in Game Design
Becoming a Writer
Web Design

There were others, but those are the main three things I would like to constraint on. Even though those are possibly not for me, if I have some kind of ADD. I'm thinking about getting tested.

Most high schools and colleges have writing clubs, although sometimes they are only for poetry. Bigger colleges will have game design clubs, but you can always start your own if you can find people to join it. You could even just try a club that does nothing but play videogames. If you are interested in web design, join the student council or yearbook club and make publications for the school, both online and offline. If you have ADD that means you ar probably better at jumping between different projects, so I would suggest starting your own newspaper and then finding other people to write up the articles while you supervise and edit everything.

There are gaming clubs that girls enter right? Starting my own club sounds kind of cool, I really like starting forums using Proboards and those are kind of like online clubs in a way right? I just do not know what to start. If anything I still have no idea what kind of club I'd like. Perhaps a religion/mythology club since I am very interested in all kinds of religions. How about a gender studies club? Is there a cartoonist club?

What clubs a school has depends on if anybody has thought of the club before and if there are enough people to keep the club going. Making a forum is a lot like making a club, but you might be expected to follow certain guidelines depending on the school. If you don't know what club you'd like to be a part of, you can just wander in and out of different ones for a while until you find one that you'd like to really stick with.

Oh well, I leave the rest of AT to answer your questions for now. Don't forget to start having fun right now and stop worrying so much, it'll make you lose your hair before you hit 30.

Don't wait for girls to start coming to you. It won't happen. For every one girl out there, there is at least one guy drooling over her all ready (and that's a modest figure). Make yourself known.
