I often find myself re-reading news headlines and paragraphs several times without actually reading them. It's like my eyes are traversing the screen/page but my brain is not doing anything with the input data. It happens both with physical books and computer screens (and TVs, etc…).
Annoying. Does it happen to you?

Yeah, just kind of skim it over and don't really take notice to what it says.

This happens a lot when I've been working for too long, without a break.

If you read a book for a long time, you'll come to a point where this will happen. It's kind of a handy indicator for when you should stop reading and do something else.

I decided to read Harry Potter VII one night because i couldn't sleep and was too tired to read anything more sophisticated. At one point, if i turned a page, i had absolutely no idea of what happened in the previous one.
