I don't know why. "Ass" sounds so much more natural.

Ass offends some people, whether you think so or not or whether you like it or not.

Some people think the exact opposite.

People offended by the word ass don't deserve to be alive. People offended by any spoken word, for that matter, should kill themselves.

I use ass more in casual conversation, which makes it normal to me.

I find the use of the word 'butt' more erotic.

Calling someone an ass is insulting. Calling someone a butt, well, hardly anyone does and assuming they did, it just sounds silly.

So, since a word accepted as an insult would interchangably be used to describe a part of your body, it stands to reason that would cause many people's brows to furrow. Calling your posterior a butt isn't offensive though.

I find both of the words to be crude when used in casual conversation. I don't find either to be erotic at all, but they can each be very sexually provocative in the right context.

This makes absolutely no sense. You are contradicting yourself.

Not at all. Erotic = sexually arousing. Provocative = intriguing or interesting. You can be sexually interesting without being sexually arousing. I think the words can be provocative in the right context, but I still don't find them sexually arousing in any way.

I know a girl who does that. It does sound pretty silly, but it's kind of cute too (possibly because it's silly).

"Butt" always sounded more natural to me, and that is what I use. "Nice butt" or "I'll kick your butt" just seem more normal to me. Most people around me don't say "ass" either unless they are trying (and failing) to sound vulgar/edgy/cool or something. Granted I'm an adult and grew up in an era when it was less common to here profanity in movies let alone every day conversation.

I kind of agree. They're just words. It really irritates me when someone gets all flustered up because I said something that is "socially unacceptable". Who gave them the right to decide that some words are acceptable and some aren't?

Especially when it comes to the word "Hell". Typically, I restrain myself from using strong language when I'm not around friends or somebody that I'd be comfortable swearing around, but if something REALLY surprises me, I'll usually say something that I shouldn't. In this case, I was in studyhall at school two years ago. Some self proclaimed tough guy decided to grab me by the neck and see how long he could keep a choke hold on me. Naturally, I ripped his hands off of my neck, hit him, and asked him "What the Hell are you doing?", in which the teacher overseeing the class turns around and threatens to send me to the office for my "vulgar language".

Had I turned around and screamed WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING, I might have understood. But Hell? Hell is a place. I didn't tell him to fuck himself. I didn't tell him to eat shit and die. I said "What the Hell are you doing?", which doesn't even imply anything offensive. Get it through your head: it's not a swear word. Yet I'm the one getting getting a lecture about how I shouldn't use those nasty words.

"Quiet, might piss somebody off…"
"Shhhhh, somebody might not agree with you!

I don't give a damn. I'm equal to any other person living in my nation, I have the right to express myself, no matter how offensive you think it is. Feel free to tell me how much of a trouble making high school punk I am because I speak my mind with my own words. What happened to freedom of speech? You know, thinking on your own terms? Having your own beliefs? Stick it to the man?

Whatever. More reasons to leave this shitty country after I get through the last bit of high school and college.

Butt is more black talk to me. It sounds hairier and shittier and not as sexy as ass.
