I don't believe for a second that anything commercial gets "leaked" these days. It's all PR crap. They "leak" products/news intentionally to create free buzz.

Entire movies and albums get leaked, while these companies continue to legally fight the transmission of these things. You sir, are an idiot.

Or maybe you are the idiot? Ever considered that?

At least his post contained an argument alongside the ad hominem. Your post doesn't so it's worthless.

OP, I'm afraid you're wrong there. The warez "scene" is real alright, and they specialize in exactly that sort of thing…It's not for nothing that people get sentenced to years of jail time if they're found to be involved in that sort of shit.

In fact, some groups have even been known to "advertise", usually in the little .NFO files which you probably never read that come with most torrents, and they're specifically asking for (as well as good programmers/crackers) people with jobs in that particular industry, such as people involved in game development or game journalism. Many ROMs are dumped and released days or even weeks before the games officially go on sale.

OP, so if I get your post right, rather than a bunch of hardcore pirates getting copies from insiders, ripping/encoding/cracking the item and releasing it online for other fans, putting their criminal records on the line… You would rather believe that the companies are giving copies to these people, knowing that alot of people will now not be spending any money on their product since it will be released for free online, bamboozling law enforcement into arresting and jailing these people, all in the name of PR?

Moon landing was totally fake too I`ll bet…

Dexter episode 1 (of season 3) was leaked on purpose, as were Dexter episode 1 and 2 of season 2 by the way.

There you go.

That is the exception rather than the rule. Believe me, people would not risk their lives on something like this if they thought the companies would just give them what they want.

Personally I think artists do leak some of their songs, there was an article from The Pirate Bay awhile back about this, and how a band who nobody knew leaked their tracks and then caused a kick off to raise hype about the band.
