Topic: How many Japanese and black people use AT?

Anonymous bfaac960e2360255d68265036dd53956 started this discussion 2 months (2008-10-05 20:39:53 UTC) ago:

A lot of females seem to be using it, but what about Japanese and black people? According to my own experience, Japanese and black people are infinitely more rare on the Internet than females.

If you are a Japanese (preferably currently living in Japan) or "black", it would be nice to hear from you.

The most rare kind of Internet user would probably be a black female who lives in Japan. :-)

(I'm a white male from a Western country. Please don't reply if you are just like me.)

I'm a black male from the United States, and I do use the internet.

In reality, what is the percentage of blacks that use the internet?

If you count myspace in that list then alot I can assume.

As stupid as it sounds, I don't consider MySpace as part of that percentage, or any social networking at that.
I mean serious internet users such as bloggers, coders, and salesmen.

Did the OP just imply that the most techonogical country in the world doesnt use the internet?

I hope not.
I do think the majority of japanese surfers stick to japanese websites however, which is probably why they're perceived as rare.
In reality they're just laughing at our inferior technologies and scoff at using connections under 20 mbit ;)

Uhh.
Black people are not rare on the internet.

I know this sounds wrong but I see a lot of black guys in internet cafes. They always seem to be looking at porn quite openly.

So you mean content generators as opposed to content consumers? Would you exclude gamers, forum users, and wiki editors? If so, you've actually jut excluded large portions of all groups of people.

To the topic at hand, I am a black person on AT. Although I don't really see how it is useful declare myself as such. It rarely is relevant to any topics, reduces anonymity, attracts trolls, and results in being insulted or accused of being a white person lying. Is there any particular reason people at AT are so interested in finding black people, anything you wanted to say/ask? I've seen questions like this on the site before, but the discussion never seems to go beyond a roll call.

One last note, don't expect most black or Japanese people to respond to topics like this because it generally never ends well.
