Topic: Grammar: "Just because X doesn't mean…"

This is probably correct English, but to me, as a non-native English speaker, it sounds really weird.

> Just because you are gay doesn't mean you suck every cock you see.

That "gay doesn't" part seems awkward to me grammatically. I would like to put it in this way:

> Just because you are gay, that doesn't mean you suck every cock you see.

Is this grammar silly?

(I don't wanna know how to re-phrase the sentence — it is just an example.)

Hmm I've never actually thought about that. To me, all that is missing is a comma before doesn't. Whether or not you should use "that doesn't" or something similar is a complete mystery to me..

You are correct; it needs "that".

Yep, but give it a decade and the new generation of English professors and other authorities will consider it common enough to be standard usage.
