No wild guesses now. I want hard facts! Is it bad or not? I don't give a shit about how nicely relaxed it makes you if it's still damaging my internal organs and killing brain cells.
The only thing I have to go by is the fact that every single pro-"weed" person that I have ever talked to or seen/heard has been a complete idiot.
> lol u need to do da dope dawg lol u dunno wat ur missen lol its just bullshit da government dont want u 2 b hi lol cus there lyke stuck up n shit lol unowatimsayen bro fight da power maaaan

Is marijuana bad for you?
Absolutely. Smoking anything is bad for your lungs.
Are cigarettes, alcohol, fatty foods, inactivity and all of the other gluttonous habits people commonly engage in even worse for you?
Absolutely. So if you want to do it, you might as well. It won't be any worse than being obese, an alcoholic, or a chain smoker, in fact it will be much better.
Can you get addicted to marijuana?
Yes, but only psychologically, just as you can get addicted to anything. Nothing in marijuana is physically addictive but if you have an addictive personality in general (consider if you engage in compulsive masturbation) you could possibly come to use it more than you should to drown out your problems.
Can you use marijuana sparingly and with little to no side effects?
Yes, and marijuana does actually have some health benefits (not to say that it doesn't have detriments as well if you abuse it) that could make this course of action advised.

If you want to compare, here are some websites to look at:
http://www.benefitsofmarijuana.com/benefits.phphttp://www.usdoj.gov/dea/ongoing/marijuana.htmlYou have to consider of course that both of these sites are biased. With touchy subjects, it's very hard to get purely objective research. You just have to read both sides and decide which one you trust more. My answers are more from personal usage, and observing the usage of my associates.

There are a lot of health risks associated with inhaling smoke, yes, which is why the healthy stoner buys a vaporizer, which only heats the weed enough to evaporate the most important of the active ingredients, THC. This eliminates most of the physical health problems, but you still should go easy on it if your family has a history of mental illness.
You say you're after cold hard facts - sorry brother, there aren't any. Only recently have we begun to see the cold hard facts on cigarettes, and that's a multibillion dollar government-regulated industry. Weed just hasn't seen enough research yet to say for sure. Anecdotally, some family friends have been smoking weed for some 30 years or so and are fine, though the smoke is beginning to take its toll on their lungs.
Using a vaporizer, you probably don't have anything to worry about.

Unless you are smoking a shitload it's not really going to have drastic effects on your health. Just because something is legal doesn't mean it's not bad for you! Cigarettes/Alcohol for example. It may make you a little paranoid when you are high but it's relatively harmless. I would compare a joint to a cup of coffee in terms of health risks.

Idiot.

Maybe it is just coincidence but I have these health issues since smoking marijuana which may or may not be related.
1. Increased "floaters" in my vision- look them up if you don't know what I'm talking about.
2. "Visual snow" when looking at a white backround or the sky.
3. I had my first panic the day after I stopped smoking heavily every day for a week. Have learned to deal with panic attacks ever since.
4. The obvious cloudy-headed and forgetfulness lingers for a day at most.
It doesn't do the same for everyone. I don't regret smoking it- good times. However I quit 2 months ago and don't regret that either.

There's something about increasing the risk of schizophrenia if your family has had problems with that in the past. Even though you might not have schizophrenia, there's some evidence that smoking marijuana could bring it out.

After a couple times of smoking it, you start to think about life… a LOT.
Paranoia is also normal when intoxicated.
It's fun, just don't do too much.

I've smoked heavily for about 8 years now. It used to be fun, I met some good friends through it. However, I've quit recently (just over a week ago) and I'm getting BAD anxiety. The dreams are vivid and crazy. I don't want to speak to anyone or do anything. I'd like to do something to take the place of smoking but I just don't have the concentration. Basically my brain is fried.
Long story short - it affects everyone differently and it's usually after it's too late that you notice how it affects you.
I don't blame the weed. I blame myself.

@67,318It's only been a week. I'd like to know how you feel in a few months, maybe a year without weed.
Something that irritates me about the studies of marihuana use is that I never read how much weed was used over a certain period. I regularly read news articles about "certain studies" saying that weed indeed has a bad effect on you if you smoke heavily over a period of 10 years time.
But what if you like to smoke one spliff in the evening? Or a few over the weekend? I've obviously never taken the effort to look up those studies and read them completely, because I can't bother. The biggest disadvantage I noticed so far: a day wasted is a day wasted.
