Topic: Any good ice breakers or conversation starters?

Hi guys.

So I met this amazing girl on myspace. She lives a few hours away, but we've been talking on the phone a few times.

Here's the catch though - she's kind of quiet. That is, I usually have to initiate the topics during our conversations.

It's been going good so far, since I've been looking at other ice breakers online and using them, which work out well enough. But we can usually only go for an hour or so until I start to run out of things to say and I hurriedly try to end the conversation out of fear of the dreaded awkward silence.

So, can you guys help me out? What kind of topics can I bring up, or questions can I ask? Thanks so much in advance.

You want to start moving away from boring things like school, work, politics, and the economy (if that's what you've been talking about). Find some common interests and talk about them. If two people are interested in a certain topic, it actually becomes a challenge to run out of things to say. Failing that, you might just want to talk about the things going on around you, such as that person that just walked by or the store over there. It usually leads to something worth discussing. Also, you want to maybe poke fun at sexuality. Dirty jokes on occasion aren't bad.

With all due respect anon, I think at this early stage in the relationship, you might want to stay on the cautious side and stay away from "dirty" jokes. But if she gives any indication of a dirty joke, or sex reference, go ahead and try for it. Definitely try to flirt with her, too. Like tell her something a little embarrasing about you, like say you sing along to the radio or something, and if she laughs be like, "What, are you making fun of me? I'll bet you do it too!" etc

I thought I was giving advice, but thanks anyways. I'm interested in girls who are down to earth and can think for themselves. I understand what you're saying, but I feel that if a girl can't take a dirty joke (I'm not talking really dirty like penises and assholes and stuff) without getting nervous or defensive, she might not be the girl for me. Basically, I want a girl who is comfortable with her sexuality. Using dirty jokes is sort of a test to see if she is. Obviously I'm not gonna go all out and be like, "WHEN I MASTURBATE I SQUIRT CUM EVERYWHERE DO YOU MASTURBATE TOO WHAT DO YOU PUT IN YOU CUNT, LOL."
