Sounds like something made up by somebody who got a low IQ score to me, to be honest…

Yeah, some kind of bullshit which is just near the psycotherapy.

No.

EQ Tests work. I am a clinical psychologist, and sometimes I use these.

It's a valid and recognised statistic and it does measure something, it's just that (and this is to some extent true with IQ as well) there is no consensus on just what it means, and what consequences it will have.

And how does it feel having a career based on completely indefinite evidence which, if you think about it, actually oversimplifies people? Fraud.

What exactly is emotional intelligence? Is it like a measure of your social ability? I would be below average on that one, even though my IQ is quite high (which doesn't really mean that much anyways). I believe that there's many different "types" of intelligences out there; there isn't one signal test or standard to which you can grade people's intelligence by.

I wonder how much "Emotional Intelligence" is inversely related to self-awareness.

EI is true, but Daniel Goleman, who likes to write papers on EI citing himself and very few others, leave a bad taste in my mouth. I've heard respected academics call him a plagiarist in public. Funnily enough, he'll get a small army of people buying whatever book he spews out next.

If you don't strictly adhere the teachings of Doctor Sigmund Freud, then your entire practice is bullshit and you are a fraud.

It shines through that you know absolutely nothing about psycology. There have been many great psycologist since Freud, and Freud's theories are flawed at best.

Most people don't really adhere to Freud. His teachings are pretty fucking out there, and most people agree that they're dead wrong.

I don't see why there's such a negative reaction towards psychologists. The psychologist applies what he or she understands about the human mind and helps patients rationalize their problems and work everything toward a better result. Some people just have problems with their emotions and feelings, and it's not bad to have an educated outside perspective to help you figure out what's going on. My only complaint is that psychologists shouldn't charge so much money for simply sitting down and talking with people. Psychologists that rely on prescription medication bug me too.

I think you guys should do a bit of research before you instantly discredit something you have no clue about.

Emotional Intelligence is basically a person's ability to manage, control, and read his or her emotions. I guess people with "low" EI have a problem controlling their emotions, are easily influences by impulse. People with "high" EI can manage their emotions and control them or release them when necessary. EI is also a person's ability to read and control other peoples emotions. People with "high" EI should be able to influence an individual or crowd in his or her favor.
