You know… "evil" oil corporations who don't want a car engine that runs on water to surface on the market, or a cure for AIDS that cannot be released as so many people would lose their jobs…
Do you think that this has ever actually happened? Just like in the movie "The Man in the White Suit", where the businessmen try to make the scientist sign a contract to give them the complete rights to the new textile that never wears out and never goes dirty, only to suppress it from ever becoming known to the world as it would heavily hurt them economically.
Is there any known/famous case of this in the past that was later/recently revealed or something?

How would we know? If such things exist, they've been suppressed.

There was a guy who made a tire that could go a million miles before wearing out, but apparently the car and tire companies stopped production of it somehow.

I once heard of a guy that managed to make a combustion engine running on regular gasoline plus a hybrid of some other fuel system that managed to achieve up to 200hp and still maintained a 120mpg average. Who knows really though. Exactly as was said, there a possibly many many things that have been invented that we have yet to see. Any good invention is first patented before revealed to avoid any rip-offs. Guess who handles pantents…. that's right our government. But wait, guess who gives our government most of it's revenues.. that's right big corporations. Guess who gives millions and millions of dollars to our government officials… that's right lobbyist for big corporations. Beggining to see the picture here? Oh well I'm sure you already understand it so I don't know why I'm rambling. I hate not knowing the truth though, this is also a question that I ponder often good sir. You are not alone.

The piss-ants over at AMA (American Medical Association) successfully managed to suppress Harry Hoxsey's cancer cure just because chemical therapies would depreciate, whereas his cure involves vitamins, herbs and the likes. AMA also imposed a deterrence to Hoxsey's medical practices without a license even though he was only looking at cancer patients (which have proved to more than suffice). What's even fucking stupider is that he desired a medical profession but no school would accept him for the aforementioned reasons (bullshit). It's pretty disheartening to know that one of the most powerful medical orgs. is comprised on solely profit when their profession is built around aiding unhealthy people, and when it is within capability, they sever it.

@67,495How are you so sure that it's not the other way around? We already have thousands of fake worthless "medical" products being hawked to consumers in the US, we can't just accept a cure without being skeptical. Especially when it claims that it can cure cancer. I'm trying to be as objective as possible here, but it's just really hard to believe that he's actually got a cure for cancer without some real solid proof. I want to know exactly how his therapy is able to target cancer cells and destroy them effectively without damaging healthy cells. I understand that some of his salves simply burn away tumors, which makes some sense, but what if the cancer isn't on the exterior of your body?

@67,495@67,506Never mind, I take both of these statements back. I didn't look into the topic as broadly as possible and I see the other side of the coin now and I'm not nearly as convinced. Apologies.
However, that site lists a range of other suppressed inventions that might strike a chord in some of you.
