Topic: So youre walking down the street and you see someone that you know

They are a little too far away to say hi. If you attempt to say hi they will just go "what" cause it was too far away

So what do you do?
a) Give them eye contact then when they come closer say hi? Looks a bit weird. Staring at them for a good 5 seconds till they come closer
b) Look away until they come within talking distance? This may seem a little rude? And some people may ignore you at the 'talking point' because you failed to look at them

This has been bothering me for a while now anon
Any tips?

Smile from far and nod.

Seconded. I think nodding is much better the closer you are. It seems to me like the nod is a form of mutual respect, especially in the younger crowd, possibly originating from the American teenage "headjerk" and corrosponds to "sup".

I don't give a flying fuck about acknowledgment or making people feel even slightly important. I'd ignore them without thinking twice.

Not too long ago, I inadvertently made eye contact with a fellow girl classmate when I was in the elevator. She gestured "Hello" and I closed the door on her. Suck on that, cunt.

Then why are you even replying here? Either answer the OP's question, or get the fuck out. Your comments are inane and useless.

When I see someone I recognize walking down the street, and we see each other, we usually don't say hi or anything until we get about ~20ft away from each other. While we get closer to each other, we usually maintain eye contact while occasionally glancing away to make sure we aren't running into anything or missing the scenery. At ~20ft, we just say hi or whatever other form of greeting we use. Occasionally, we might wave from afar, but we usually just wait till we get close enough to avoid any confusion with strangers.

I don't walk down any street. All the walking I do is to get coffee, shower, poop etc.

When I do leave my house I usually see people that I know when I am driving somewhere, they always have the need to roll the fucking windows down and stick their fucking head half out the window and make a fuckin' scene, motherfuckers. I usually just try to ignore them or if I can take a right of way turn i'll do it, even if its making me take the long route to my destination.

Easiest thing is eye contact and then nodding to them.

Of course it depends how well you know the person, I normally ignore everyone expect my friends. With friends I do the above, sometimes have a few words exchanged as well.
