Blacks often criticize white people for using the words "nigger" and "nigga." According to them, those words are demeaning when used by whites. However, black people use these words all the time. Blacks use "nigger" as a term of disparagement towards members of their own race and "nigga" as terms of endearment to members of their own race. In both cases, they insist upon their ability to use these words but express outrage when non-blacks (and especially whites) use them. I do not understand this double standard at all. Please enlighten me.

Okay. I'll try to take a crack at this one.
As a black man, I tend not to use the word "nigga" when addressing other black people ,but, I am inclined to call anyone a nigger as long as they do something deserving of the title. I understand what you mean, but I let all of my friends (as in Hispanic, White, and Asian) call me "nigga", so it's not just a racial thing. On the other hand, a random person calling me "nigga" is not going to be on my better side.

Most black people who use the word themselves don't get offended by white people using it, in my experience. They are actually just as likely to call you nigga when they greet you.

Aren't they the same word? Or is the difference in how you pronounce it, ie "nigga please" in a more laid back way or "you're a nigger" with the R clearly audible?
And you'll clarify for me, nigga = bro, nigger = insult, right?

@67,740I couldn't agree with you more. Black people and even Spanish people in my school think they are just that much better then everyone else. They all seem to want to be the "bad asses" that people are afraid of when they walk down the hall.

Nigger is derogatory precisely because people think it is derogatory. It's just a word, but it has multiple meanings associated with it. It doesn't matter where it came from or what not, it matters how everyone else thinks of it.

Most people are emotional and impulsive. There aren't a lot of people in the world that know how to manage their emotions. they don't realize that a word or even a person's hatred has no effect on their overall happiness unless they let it make them mad. Of course, if you're enslaved, it's a different matter altogether. But now, nigger is just a word with some bad meanings. It shouldn't hurt anybody physically or emotionally, but it does because most people just aren't that rational.

Well im a black male in England/London, and personally i don't mind it when my close friends (whether they are Spanish/South American or white). They rarely call me Nigga anyways, maybe as a joke, but im not offended by it anyway. I guess it just depends how someone uses the word. If someone uses it as a joke, then its not really a big problem, but if a person Uses the word to intentionally be racist, then that's a different story on the whole.

Not saying I don't believe you, but I'd like to know for the sake of the discussion. Incidentally, there are quite a lot of terms that are derogatory towards whites, such as cracker, honky, white bread, white meat, wonderbread, ect.. It's certainly true that there are a lot of ways to insult a black person as well.

The fact that niggers continue to behave more niggardly than ever while simultaneously expecting, even demanding for a spade not to be called a spade, is as much of a paradox as is how they receive special consideration, through affirmative action policies, for positions for which they are either inept or unqualified to fulfill. They fill the prisons because they are content to steal from others or run drugs rather than work, drain the welfare rolls due to poor family planning and deadbeat fathers, and are the chief cause of the housing crisis because they are unequipped with the faculties to manage mortgages but were given the loans anyway due to white liberal guilt. You can't make this shit up- the evidence is overwhelming everywhere, from the nigger-rich teenagers driving erratically in cars they can't afford, with all windows down, polluting the neighborhood with noise nobody wants to hear, with the seats reclined back creating a safety hazard, to the amateur gangbangers making trouble in the schools. Everywhere you turn, it's just niggers being…niggers!
