Topic: Are the laws against child molesters etc. harsh in Japan?

Judging by their culture, I would assume that their laws are very relaxed…

I live in Canada, and in my province it was just recently moved to 16 from 14. So it's not really that shocking to hear the age of consent is 13 in Japan.

And 12 if the older person is under 16.

Spain also has a AOC of 13.

But that's not the problem. Fact is, fifteen years ago, school girl videos (like 13/14) were sold legally. Now they're sold illegally, but still sold.
Their law is "harsh" against child molesters, but often children and the family will keep quiet.
