Topic: Songs I can't stand #1: "Welcome to the black parade"

(Also sometimes incorrectly called "When I was")

I can't stand this piece of shit. Above all I can't stand the fact that so many losers seem to still like it. It has no musical merit or taste whatsoever.

The first part is a complete bastardization of Pachelbel's Canon, and the second is….completely random, and totally generic. I literally think these lazy asshats just "wrote" two separate songs, realized they were too short and shitty, and decided to just splice them together and release the resulting mess.

The Doors kick ass. But "Soft Parade" was not among their best songs.

Once, in the middle of a heavy mushroom trip, I thought Jim Morrison was talking to me when he says "this is the best part of the trip" in that song. Good times…

If you are talking about My Chemical Romance, then fucking die in a fire. Seriously.

I thought the OP was talking about the Doors, I didnt realize My Chemical Romance made a cover of one of their songs.

Yes, we are all talking about 'My Chemical Romance'. They suck out loud. I hate all those 'emo' kids.

I agree with everybody who says that MCR sucks. They do. That song is awful and I cringe everytime I hear it. People just don't know what real music is anymore. /sigh.

You're right about Pachelbel's Canon, I'd noticed that myself, but it's but not really surprising since none of what these losers do is original.

I was at a Michigan football game today, and the band deemed that it was necessary to play "Welcome to the black parade" during half-time.

In fact, it's totally fucking blatant, and even more obvious if you speed it up. If you ignore the chipmunk-like screaming in the foreground, it becomes very apparent that they're exactly the same tune. The best demonstration of this is probably the following video:

Then again, it's far from the only song that does this. But, you might say, the most important part is the lyrics, but since in this case the lyrics are such meaningless bullshit I'm left agreeing that this song has no redeeming value, let alone justifies the money these clowns made from it.

recycling Canon in D = instant radio hit. It's been done over and over.

After the college band played "Welcome to the black parade," they also played Fallout Boy's song about going downtown in a leerllaruah or something, then they proceeded to rick roll us.

@69,037

I'd rather be Rick Roll'd than anything else, in all honesty.

But while I loathe My Chemical Romance as much as the next guy, I have fairly low standards on music. Please note though that when I mean music, I mean the instrumental value of the song. "Welcome to the Black Parade" sounds good to me music-wise, but the lyrics - I will admit - don't make sense to me. Unfortunately, most good sounding music to me have very crappy lyrics.

It's just trying to get past the words and listen to the song itself that makes them better to some extent.

So, "Welcome to the Black Parade" has some redeeming value to it, but not that much. It just sounds good to me, that's all.
