Okay, stupid question:
Are words like "fuck" really censored in American TV? With a "beep"? Even at night?
Okay, that's more than one question, enlighten me please.

I have never heard the words "fuck" or "shit" on TV any time of day except for channels like HBO or movie channels.

As long as they don't *beep*ing censor the internet I'll be ok. Wait, was I just *beep*ing bleep'd!

But anyway, to your question, yes they censor. Family guy and other shows have made parody of this. You can probably google/youtube/hulu the video.

Seriously? Wow, how annoying is that! I will never complain about German TV again, at least here you can say "Fotze" as often as you want.

It annoys me a great deal, especially when watching american shows here in the UK when things like 'ass' are beeped out. That isn't even a swear word over here, but it was pre-beeped before it got bought I guess.

AFAIK anything goes after 9pm in the UK, though I don't think 'cunt' has ever made it onto TV that I can remember.

I always laugh when I see 'Fuck you'-censorship.
They censor the finger, mouth and word.

Censorship is required and regulated on network television, but cable television isn't restricted by it. Many of them choose to censor anyways to pander to puritanical retard viewers.

I've found that only from 6pm to 6am do we get any "basic" swearing, like ass is uncensored. Only after midnight or something do we get "fuck" and everything else uncensored. then it lasts until 6am.

usually "fuck" in a television program won't be bleeped, it'll naturally be silenced or playing a different cut of the film with a downed rating.

some of them are really bad with horrible cutting of violent scenes… a good example would be escape from new york. you'd have to see it to know what i mean.
