Recently, I managed to destroy a partition on my primary hard drive. This partition happened to be the Linux swap partition (which doesn't really bother me since I don't use Linux anymore). Unfortunately, it caused the GRUB to piss its virtual pants and just exit with an error. So, an MBR restore was in order. I also deleted the remaining Linux partition.
Now I'm left with an embarrassing amount of free space (I gave Linux way too much) and of course I'd like to use it. I could just make a new partition and assign it a drive letter, but is there any way I could "add" the free space to my primary (C:) partition? Windows doesn't let you do that; I heard there are apps for that, but I don't want to spend money. This is what it currently looks like:
[BOOT (C:)] { [BACKUP (D:)] [Unallocated] [RECOVER (E:)] }
({ } is the extended partition.)

I used Acronsis Disk Director Suite to give myself more space on my C drive from another partition. Worked nicely.

@69,849Thanks for the tip, but as I wrote, I'm not willing to spend any money.
@69,857Looks an awful lot like a Linux program. Can I create a boot CD with it or how am I supposed to use this?

It's a free linux utility, it can be a LiveCD that you boot up with your computer. Similar to Partition Magic.

@69,929Casting my vote here also for gparted. Extremely easy to use, extremely reliable; the code is both free as in free beer, and free as in liberty.

@69,881You don't have to spend any money. ;-)
But Arconis is a piece of shit anyway, I don't recommend it.
Gparted works as a boot CD and hasn't given me any problems so far, just make sure to get the latest version.
