One of them is a little older girl. She could be up to 12 years old. I wish I would have the guts to ask them to join it. But I'm afraid they would say no or that it would feel awkward with parents coming out and asking questions and whatnot…
It would be wonderful to know the neighbour kids as my friends and play/hang with them regularly. I am very playful and childish despite being in my 20s. I didn't ask to age — I wanted to remain a child for much longer!
Aging sucks.

A little odd. To an extent. The game is awesome, and I always hide from my mates for pure humour, but not with 12 year olds :S.
Each to their own, but if it is the kids and not the game you want to play at, I would quash these urges.
Not saying you're a pedo, but… You are right in not asking them. It would be awkward.
I'm considering creating an online hide and seek simulator so people can feel the epic thrill of being crammed in toybox, not being able to breathe, shouting for help, realising your mate has gone in the garden to search and being stuck for 15 minutes and vomiting over ones own knees and losing consciousness before their mates return…
Not supressed memories there at all…

I sometimes feel like playing games from childhood too. I usually have monopoly nights or something with friends when I'm feeling nostolgic. Why don't you find some like minded adults? I'm sure there are plenty. And then you wouldn't have to go to the trouble of possibly creeping out minors. win-win

Just relax. Walk up to them like you're just passing by, and if a kid runs in your way, just ask what he's up to. When he replies, ask if you can play too. Don't act all desperate, or say 'Oh wow! I'd love to play with you!', that creeps them out. Just be cool, laid-back, and then have fun! And if the parents come out, just be cool and smile.
I totally know what you mean. I'm no pedo, but I see kids having so much fun at the park every day. I want that back.
