I've come to the conclusion that I'm addicted to fast food, it calms me down and makes me less depressed when I eat it. I'm not sure how I became so addicted, but I'm wondering why this happens exactly.

Food additives in it make you addicted. Just like any other chemical substance. It is in lots of foods, not just fast foods. I recommend trying to avoid it. Find something to take the cravings away. Get addicted to fast food and you will become morbidly obese and have loads of health problems.

I don't think there are any addictive additives in fast food. If I eat at fast food restaurants too often, I get sick of their food, I don't find myself craving it.

@171,958Oh, that's a good one. Addictive chemicals. Yet another way for the fat masses to escape responsibility for their own obesity, eh?
You get addicted to fast food due to nothing but laziness and poor self-control. Please stop trying to pass this off as something that's out of your control due to some elusive but highly addictive element.

@previousPeople become fat from a varied diet and little physical exercise, not super lazy people with no self control.

Little physical exercise = laziness, either by fault or by design. Also, you don't have to eat fast food, and yet fat people are commonly seen fisting fried chicken into their mouths from a KFC bucket.
There is a much stronger positive correlation between obesity and a bad diet than there is obesity and genetics. The only reason someone would continue to eat junk food in spite of their fatness is poor impulse control and an unwillingness to switch to something healthy.
So yes. It IS down to laziness, bad habits and poor self control

The only additive which may even be vaguely addictive is MSG, mainly found in Chinese food.
Basically the bottom line is , if you eat shit and do not exercise then you will get fat.
Oh and there is no such thing as the so called Fat Gene.

@previousAgreed. The "fat gene" is a myth. Genetics plays an important role in weight, due to genetic influences on metabolic rate, differences in individual biochemistry, individual efficiency to build muscle, that kind of thing. Thing is, if you don't eat a lot of crap food then you generally don't become a fatass. Additionally, if you're physically active - even a little bit, you'd be surprised - you also don't generally become a fatass. There will always be exceptions to this, the way there are to every rule. That does not mean that the general rule does not apply to the general population.
