Topic: Do you find that the ugly girls you used to go to school with have become really hot over time?

When I was young, I was telling my Dad that some girl at school liked me, but I didn't like her because I didn't think she looked nice (I know, mean but I was young).
My Dad told me that all the boring looking girls at school have now all become the most attractive out of the others.
So I was looking through Facebook and I added a girl I hadn't seen in two years, since I left school and it closed down. This used to be the geeky 13 year old who wore ugly glasses, never talked to anyone and generally looked…boring. Now she's really hot!
Does anyone else find that this seems to hold true?

Of course it happens. I used to be a complete dork in high school, I never wore makeup, had poor taste in fashion, and I was chubby. Now I work out at the gym almost daily, I dress really sophisticated and chic, and I look like a completely different person. I resembled America Ferrera's character on 'Ugly Betty' in high school and now I resemble Kim Kardashian (minus the enormous ass). You should date chicks that used to be ugly, they usually aren't as stuck-up or conceited as the girls who were always beautiful. Former-uglies didn't waltz through life using their looks to get what they want, they often had to develop interesting personalities, good humor, and high intellect to attract guys.

Your dad sounds like a man of infinite wisdom.
I preferred dating the so called ugly girls because I found them much less narcissistic and nicer to be with. They also made more of an effort in bed. I found it sad when they decided to try to mould themselves into a more stereotypical attractiveness in order match some media created notion of what is beautiful until I realised that they were the same person only now they were trying to take more care of themselves.
And the fact that I found them hot before they started their journey just makes them be all the nicer to me now!

Nope. Girls who were ugly in my school remained ugly. However, I mostly care about the face, not the body. I also used Facebook to look them up (this is nine years later) and the ones who were ugly remains mediocre whilst the ones who were hot remains fabulous.

Well, not necessarily the outright ugly ones, but at my 10 year high school reunion I noticed many plain looking girls had either blossomed into nice really looking women or, they had finally acquired the skills needed to make themselves into lookers. Likewise, a lot of the hot girls who had every boy in school chasing after them had simply become run of the mill types who didn't seem so special anymore. I lost count of the girls I should have asked out. I would strongly advise you to consider personality and attitude first when choosing a possible date or girlfriend.

I have seen the reverse OP. A lot of the uber hotties have let themselves go, they have unattractive figures. In a couple of decades they will get the backlash of tanning.
Karma is a bitch . :)

@previousDear God yes! At my last class reunion (10 year) I saw a woman across the room and asked my date why someone's mom would be at our function.
Nearly snorted a mouthful of rum and coke out my nose when she told me it was the class "hot girl" every guy drooled over.

Also be nice to the ugly girls, 'cause they usually have the attractive friends.

@173,480You won't believe it but this is happening at an increased rate in school now. I know of one girl who has already got
skin cancer from over tanning and another looks like a fat leathery sack (I guess vicodin everyday doesn't give you much time for exercise)

Some people are born ugly, others were born hot but you never noticed in highschool because they were overweight, had acne, glasses, braces, etc that hid their hotness.

Yeah, some of the ugly, skinny girls I knew back then grew up to be beautiful women. Most of the girls who I thought were "hot" back then are now fat and ugly, I look at some of their pictures on their facebook profiles and wonder what happened.
I guess they were ugly ducklings that blossomed. I was the same, skinny, not the coolest or best looking guy around. When I was 20 or so it's like my body transformed, I grew taller than the people that used to call me short even though I was 5'8'' already, my body filled out, my face used to be round but now I have pointy/sharp features, I guess I was a late bloomer too.

I think it has also to do with personal taste developing over time. When we are young we have a more superficial sense of beauty. Moreover teenagers' social values are more influenced by hierarchies and girls deemed uncool may in fact posses high amounts of somewhat hidden beauty. Once we grow up these values change and we become sensitive to aspects of the other people that we were previously not able to notice due to undeveloped taste and prejudices.
