Topic: Questionable safety of P2P file sharing…

Specifically with the latest version of Frostwire. I've always known that theres a possibility to get viruses and the like from downloading things off there, as it obviously comes with that risk from being a shared file. But what about not fully downloading a file so that it remains incomplete? I imagine it won't help, as whatever nasty things that come with the file are either instantly transported upon download, or sometime during the download and not upon the point of completion. So, assuming this is true, I'm guessing theres NO way to be completely safe from viruses over p2p networks and still get your file, right? It's really starting to scare me. I don't want to lose ANOTHER computer just because I want some songs.

Well… if you get viruses only by downloading music files, there is something really wrong with the client/network that you are using.
Try torrent. It's completely safe if you don't download(and run) executables.

Well, music and videos. I search for vids of pvp games. Gotten some trojans a few times from em, despite the videos being real. I may try torrents just to avoid any further trouble.

If it's a video or a music file then it can't contain any executable code.

The problem is most P2P software like limewire/frostwire can be exploited to run code- torrents are much harder to get to run exploited code. Still I scan every torrent with NOD32, just in case.
