I think the current push against pedophilia is silly. Governments have learned nothing from similar measures in the past. Here in the USA, the government outlawed alcohol (ethanol) consumed as a beverage, for the purpose of intoxicating the individual. Industrial [solvent] alcohol was "denatured" with poisonous methanol — essentially the government would rather the person consuming the alcohol to die, or at a minimum, go blind; rather than to get drunk. What was the major result of this stupid prohibition law? More people than ever began drinking [illegal bootleg alcohol], a cascading effect which gave way to the most lawless period in American history — a time when "gangsters" owned the streets, and the very idea of morality went right out the window. Essentially, the prudish attempt to force an "unwanted" social behavior (drinking) in fact amplified it!
This is exactly what I see happening today with the anti-pedophilia laws. People have an innate desire to do whatever it is they are not supposed to do. This is causing people who otherwise would have no interest in child pornography — to seek it out, simply to have something that they aren't supposed to have. Thus the attempt to suppress pedophilia in the USA has in fact resulted in an artificial amplification of such "unwanted" behaviors.
