Why are people so scared of it?
Surely only people who are going to be committing crime need to worry. For the rest of us they provide protection.

It's the idea that you are always being watched that freaks me out. Right now people are fine with the cameras because they cower at any utterance of the word terrorism, and think they are safer with one camera per sixteen citizens (can't remember the exact number). But if/when the government decides to go full blown big brother and starts handing out curfews to anyone deemed a terrorist (because of the watch they wear, the color of their skin, their last name, etc.) they already have the perfect system set up to monitor perfectly innocent citizens.
Or I'm wrong and they're totally chill. I mean, it's not like any government has never done anything to hurt it's own people.

There's also the fact that the evidence supports the fact that CCTVs being installed does absolutely nothing to decrease crime, rendering it a waste of tax dollars.
