Topic: My PC is all fucked up…

I was downloading some games for my new PC. I installed only one (Prey… i barely passed the minimum specs) and afterwards, my PC logged off. I logged back in, my screensaver loaded up, and it logged off again. So now i'm in safe mode with a shitty resolution and am wondering if I ran AVG, would it be able to fully scan my PC even though i'm in safe mode?

any worthwhile anti-virus should be able to scan in safe mode.

Was all of this legit? It kind of makes sense if your machine got fucked up if you were doing anything illegal. I don't understand why people trust cracked software.

Regardless of whether or not it's legit, have you tried un-installing? You might also want to fire up MSCONFIG and see if anything is in your startup that shouldn't be (there are other places to look, but that's a simple place to start).

With pirating games, you are best off downloading images of the game disc, not some ripped, cracked, bullshit, and then emulating an optical drive using daemon tools or some other suitable software.

@30,546
viruses and trojans can be slipped into a CD image just as easily as a regular .exe
