Topic: Remember when terrorists weren't arab?

In movies back before the 9/11 attack, the terrorists were usually eastern European or Russian. But nowadays, the media only depicts terrorists as arabs. Isn't this racist?

My point being, so that I'm not banned by Sysop since he wouldn't understand my point from the above, who cares if it is? Its true; most terrorism is from Arabic places.

Well I have watched all of 24, and that show has featured the Kumar actor, comedian Sean Majumder, and Deep Space Nine's Julian Bashir actor in terrorist or reformed terrorist roles, and they aren't arab and don't look arab.

I remember the Irish.

Despite pre-9/11 movies like True Lies, I always did and still do think of movie terrorist as being russians. Former military personnel with training and access to weapons from the former Union.

It's part of the time configured propaganda. During the cold war communists had to be unpopular in the USA so they were the bad guys, now they need people to fear Muslims so they are the bad guys. Even though you think it doesn't have an effect to watch such movies, it messes with your mind and creates fear of characters that shows similarity to fictional bad guys. The Soviets had similar movies that ridiculed the Americans, while North Korea is the absolute biggest producer of cinematic propaganda.

@30,611

N. Korea? Sure about that chief? Second maybe, maybe. But I really can't think of any bigger producer of cinematic ( not to mention regular media ) propaganda than the good 'ole US of A.
